Diamox (Acetazolamide)
Diamox is used to treat glaucoma and to treat and to prevent acute mountain sickness (altitude sickness). It is also used as a part of some treatment plans for congestive heart failure and seizure disorders.
Use Diamox as directed by your doctor.
- Take each dose with a full glass of water.
- Take Diamox with food if it upsets your stomach.
Diamox is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor. Carbonic anhydrase is a protein in your body. Diamox reduces the activity of this protein.
If you miss a dose of Diamox, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Store Diamox at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Diamox out of the reach of children and away from pets.
